Our system is designed to enhance your phone service and not to replace it. As Grasshopper operates on your mobile device, a carrier phone service is still needed to operate your device.

Yes, Grasshopper works in both Canada and the United States.
No contracts are required. We offer both month-to-month and annual plans to best fit your business’ needs. You can also try our service risk-free with our 7-day free trial.
Grasshopper accepts any incoming international calls.
Outgoing international calls require the activation of our international forwarding feature. This feature is included in all our base plans and allows for extensions to forward callers to any type of phone, domestically or internationally. This feature is subject to a $500 deposit, after which any subsequent charges on your account will be deducted from this deposit. After six months, you can request a refund of any remaining balance or get it back upon account cancellation. International calling is only available to customers who've been with Grasshopper for 60 days or more.

Yes, specific vanity numbers can be searched for and reserved instantly during sign-up.
Vanity numbers activation can take up to 7 business days and requires a $30 one-time fee. More numbers can be added to your account at any time after signing up. If you have questions about vanity numbers, you can Submit a Request or call 24/7 Grasshopper Support.
Yes, you can port and/or transfer your existing toll-free or local number to Grasshopper at no additional charge.
Toll-free numbers are easily transferred to Grasshopper for free and activate within 3-5 business days.
Local number(s) must be within our coverage area. Please check make sure that they are eligible for transfer before proceeding. Once eligible, your transferred local number will activate within 7-10 business days.
If your local number(s) are ineligible, then you can order a new local number from Grasshopper through our search tool or by having a local phone company forward existing local number(s) to Grasshopper
You are the valid end user/owner of a toll free and a local number, as long as you are in good standing with its provider (i.e., there are no balances on your account).
Yes, you may upgrade or switch your plan at any time by accessing your account online or by contacting 24/7 Grasshopper Support.
Yes, you can add more phone numbers to your account at any time for $9/month. Additional one-time fees may also apply depending on the type of number you are adding.
Within Grasshopper’s set-up assistant you can select what appears on your phone when a grasshopper call comes in. By selecting Your Grasshopper number you’ll see the number associated with your account and therefore know it to be a business call. Or, you can select the caller’s number to know the name or number of your caller, though by selecting this you may not know if it is a business call.
Yes, you can configure Grasshopper to act as a voicemail system when you’re unable to answer the phone. You can have an extension that accepts voicemails without ringing you first through our call forwarding feature. This feature can be turned on/off at the extension level. Similarly, voicemails are set at the extension level to customize the callers experience and ensure they get the right information.
You have a few options when it comes to recording your custom call greeting: self-recording, MP4 upload, or Grasshopper’s Voice Studio. Within the Voice Studio you’ll have a selection of several professional voice talents, so you find the right sound to suit your small business. Available in multiple languages including English, British English, Spanish and French.
You can receive faxes using our virtual fax feature. Grasshopper does not support outbound faxing.
