The Grasshopper team is confident that our product is so intuitive, you’ll be making and receiving calls in no time. To get you started, we’ve put together 6 next steps.

1. Pick a setup

Each Grasshopper user is different — a self-employed entrepreneur, for example, will have different needs than a growing small business. We’ve listed three scenarios below so you can understand your unique setup.

2. Set up extensions

The default configuration includes basic call forwarding to your personal number. This is extension 0. Your extensions will dictate how calls are forwarded from the main line. To add an extension for a person or department, sign in to your account, and go to “extensions.” You’ll be able to control when, where, and how calls are forwarded, and update the greetings and schedules.

3. Record greetings

Your Grasshopper account will come with a default main greeting that can easily be customized. Custom greetings give your caller the most seamless experience possible. Don’t forget to update your main greeting and extension voicemails.

4. Add additional phone numbers

Based on your subscription, you can add more than one number. For each number you can also customize the main greeting and your extensions.

5. Transfer an existing phone number

Want to transfer a number from a previous provider? We have you covered. Grasshopper offers number porting. It can take a few days, so in the meantime, you're set up with a temporary number. Get started with the temporary number, and once the transfer is complete, we’ll add it to your account with the same settings.

6. Install the desktop and mobile apps

You can make and receive calls from anywhere once you download the desktop and mobile apps. Apps are available for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac.
