Founded by two entrepreneurs, Grasshopper has been making it easier to start and grow a small business since 2003. Back then, we started as just two guys with a dream and to date have served over 300,000 entrepreneurs (and we're still growing).
Today our commitment to helping entrepreneurs is stronger than ever, and to that end we are proud to introduce the Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship, designed to help young entrepreneurs afford the rising cost of education and help them along the road to entrepreneurship.
Grasshopper will award one (1) $5,000 scholarship for the best submitted entry determined by our judges. The scholarship will be awarded in check form, made payable directly to the university that the winner is, or will be, attending for a school term in 2018.
The deadline for submissions has passed. We will announce the winner of this year's scholarship by July 15, 2018.*
Any current college student or incoming freshman enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a Spring, Summer, or Fall 2018 semester. Student must be enrolled at an accredited American college, university or trade school.

A winner will be selected and announced on our blog and on this page on or before July 15th, 2018.*
Terms & Conditions
By submitting an entry to the Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship, you transfer all rights and ownership of submitted content to Grasshopper, regardless of whether your entry is selected as a winner. Grasshopper reserves the right to publish submitted work at the conclusion of the entry period in any manner Grasshopper deems appropriate.
No purchase necessary for entry or winning.
Selection of winning submission is entirely at the discretion of Grasshopper. The winner will be contacted by Grasshopper via the email address used for submission. The winner will be confirmed ONLY after providing proof of enrollment in the form of a copy of a tuition bill OR letter of proof from the accredited United States college, university, or trade school at which the winner is enrolled. Upon confirmation of enrollment, the winner will be publicly announced on Grasshopper.com, and Grasshopper will mail a check to the University on behalf of the winner. In the event a winner cannot prove enrollment at a college, university, or trade school, a secondary winner will be chosen.
2017 Scholarship Winner
Joshua Estes of UMass Amherst's Isenberg School of Management, pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree, was selected as the 2017 recipient of the Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship. The essay topic was "How would you leverage the internet to develop a business? How would you manage the increased competition that an online marketplace produces?" 2016 Scholarship Winner
Kaitlin Ross of MIT's Sloan School of Management, pursing a Master of Business Administration degree, was selected as the 2016 recipient of the Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship. The essay topic was "What does market disruption mean to you as an entrepreneur? What would you do to create market disruption for your business?". 2015 Scholarship Winner
William Marcellus Armstrong of Cranbrook Academy of Art, pursing a Master of Fine Arts degree, was selected as the 2015 recipient of the Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship. The essay topic was "As an entrepreneur, what do you believe the greatest barriers to entry are for starting a business, and how would you or do you try to overcome these to be successful?". 2014 Scholarship Winner
Mafaz Al-Suwaidan of Emerson College, pursuing a degree in Creative Writing, was selected as the 2014 recipient of the Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship. You can read a brief writeup here on our blog. The essay topic was “What is your vision for the future of entrepreneurship and how will you contribute to making that happen?
Grasshopper provides 800 and toll free numbers as well as local phone numbers for businesses and allows them to use a virtual phone system to keep their employees connected anywhere, on any phone with features like call forwarding.
