We're proud to announce that Joshua Estes, a sports management major at UMass Amherst, is the winner of The Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship.

The $5000 scholarship is awarded to one active college student who is committed to entrepreneurship. Students were required to submit an essay on how they would leverage the internet to develop a business, and how they would manage the increased competition the online market places produces.

Joshua says it best:

I believe the internet is not a substitute but rather a complement. The best way to use the internet as a complement to your business whether a physical store or online store is to connect and communicate with your customers.

Founded by two entrepreneurs, Grasshopper has been making it easier to start and grow a small business since 2003. Back then, Grasshopper was just two guys with a dream. To date we've served over 150,000 entrepreneurs (and we're still growing). We wanted to be entrepreneurially generous, so we created a scholarship that would help college students afford the rising cost of tuition.

Today our commitment to helping entrepreneurs is stronger than ever, and to that end we are proud to award this scholarship to Joshua. Congratulations.

Thanks to all who applied for this year's scholarship. Until next year!
