Grasshopper Invades Canada (Toronto to be Specific)

Well, the Grasshopper Buzz Team is at it again. We are heading to another city (or country in this case) to meet local entrepreneurs and share some free drinks! Only this time it’s a bit more exciting than usual…

For the first time in Grasshopper History (–> Insert Star Wars Theme Music) we’re going to be able to offer Local Canadian Numbers (currently in beta but available to everyone in the next couple of months)!! We decided in honor of the occasion we needed to do something fun.

So what did we do?

We partnered with a great organization and decided to throw a fun event. We joined forces with the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF). Not only are the folks over there just as passionate about helping entrepreneurs as we are, but they do some great things to inspire & mentor young Toronto entrepreneurs.

On June 1st at 6pm Grasshopper and CYBF will take over the roof deck of The London Tap House. It’s an unbelievable venue, and the local entrepreneurs who run the place have been really awesome in working with us. At the beginning of October we announced the launch of the new Unlimited Voice to Text feature and the feedback has been great:

The Best Virtual Phone System Is Even Better!

To those long-time GotVMail users that have incorporated our service into your business workflow, why should you get excited about the new Grasshopper virtual phone system? Yes, I know change is difficult. Why fix what isn’t broken. However, there’s plenty to get excited about and hope it will make any pain from change worth it.

So what’s new? Well, here’s what I think are the most compelling changes:

Flexibility – we’ve introduced the concept of a user and separated it from an extension and a phone number.
Now, you can easily point your phone numbers to any type of extension (e.g., department, employee, dedicated fax, Q&A, etc.) and enable your staff to have access to one or more extensions, or even have multiple staff monitor the same extensions. What’s more, you can limit access to administrative features like plan changes and billing info.

Security – You can now specify users names and passwords for added security as opposed to the old phone number an PIN security model.

New features – We’ve redesigned our service from the ground up to enable rapid updates and new feature releases. Based on user feedback, we are releasing improvements every month to ensure our service keeps pace with the changes affecting your business. Here’s some of the exciting new features already available on the new Grasshopper platform:
- Unlimited voice-to-text: View your voicemails as text and send for human transcription for improved accuracy

- Tag messages, add notes to any message and filter messages by tag, extension and more, plus advanced message searching

- See a Google map representation of caller location based on the area code of the caller

- Store contact information for frequent callers and automatically see who has called

- Record greetings by computer using a mic

- Additional features like click-to-call and advanced dashboard stats like “recent calls” and “missed calls” are also in the works and will be released in upcoming months.

NEW Grasshopper Feature! Unlimited Voice to Text: View Your Voicemails

Meetings. Conferences. Cars. What do they all have in common? They are all places you can’t always answer your phone.

As an entrepreneur running your small business there is a lot of traveling, meetings and times you simply can’t take a phone call or listen to a voicemail.

That’s why Grasshopper is excited to announce our NEW feature – Unlimited Voice to Text.

The Voice to Text feature will do just what it sounds like; take your voicemail and transcribe it into an email, giving you the ability to view your voicemail. You can read the transcription of your voicemail on your phone or your computer without having to listen to it.

The feature is free to all new customers and existing customers for 60 days (Note: for all existing customers the free trial will start today. You can add the feature to your account online – instructions are below). For existing customers, you’ll still receive the same notification email for voicemails you currently do, but now it will include the voicemail transcription.

The new Unlimited Voice to Text feature is available to all new and existing Grasshopper customers for just $10 a month. The voicemail transcriptions are done digitally to ensure your privacy and a quick turnaround. The option of human transcription is just a click away and allows for improved accuracy in your transcription in case background noise or your caller’s accent is an issue. It will even work if Ozzy Osbourne is calling. Grasshopper is the only virtual pbx provider with the option of human transcription available at no additional cost.

Existing customers can easily add Unlimited Voice to Text to their account:

Sign in to your Grasshopper Account

Choose My Account in the upper right

Choose Update Plan from the top navigation

Select the check box for Unlimited Voice to Text (Under Additional Features) at the bottom

Once you’ve added Unlimited Voice to Text to your account, you will not be billed until the 60 day free trial has expired.
